Students at La Vista Junior High had the opportunity to raise money for a good cause. Mike Smith, an anti-bullying speaker visited the students earlier in the semester. He suggested that teachers across the country volunteer for a DECEMBEARD activity which would raise money for the I’ve Got A Name Foundation. La Vista Junior High teacher Mr. Stier stepped up to the challenge.
Students donated $1 to have their name entered into a raffle for the chance to be the lucky student to shave the beard. Eighth grade student Brooke Dougherty was the lucky winner. She shaved his beard at an all school assembly. Nearly $350 was raised and will be donated to the I’ve Got A Name Foundation.
