Emily Tencer, a Papillion-La Vista South High School junior, recently learned that she has been selected to take part in the Nebraska Young Artist Awards Day. The Nebraska Young Artist Awards annually recognizes Nebraska high school juniors who are talented in art, music, dance, theatre, or film and new media. Students are selected based on the quality of their work. Emily was chosen for her work in Theater Arts.
The Nebraska Young Artist Awards Day will take place on Wednesday, April 9. From 11:30 a.m. -3 p.m., Emily and other participants and their families will tour the UNL campus, visit classes, and learn about careers in different areas of the arts. Students will also have the opportunity to meet current UNL students and faculty in their area of interest. The day will conclude with a ceremony in the Sheldon Museum of Art at 3 p.m. where Emily will receive a certificate.
